Building project
We are ready to expand. Are you ready to help?
IOC has now outgrown its current offices which were built with 7 staff in mind; there are now about 30 staff based at the office including 3 social workers who each need a separate office to allow them to counsel clients in privacy.
The local community has donated a large flat area of land about 12km from the current offices. This site is more central to the geographical area covered by the organisation and near a major crossroads. It is therefore ideally located for the outreach services.
The new site will house the new charity offices as well as a hospice. The offices need to be as flexible as possible and allow for further growth and re-organisation. The management desire something special which expresses what we are about, the buildings needing to be an environmentally sensitive intervention using as many environmentally friendly features as possible.
We plan to use our current offices to expand our training centre. The staff accommodation will continue to be used to accommodate the few staff recruited from outside the area.
We also believe that the time has come to set up a step-down facility which will provide hospice care to patients who have no one else to care for them or whose caregivers (who might only be children) need a break. With staff who specialise in palliative care, we will provide good quality end of life care in peaceful surroundings.
The hospice unit will be positioned on the site adjacent to the offices. It will have 10 beds for children and 18 beds for adults. The children's unit will have its own garden, day room and sensory play area.
